Thomas Kirkpatrick was the son of Francis and Isabella Kirkpatrick. Francis Kirkpatrick and Isabella Clements were married on 21st August 1879 in the district of Omagh.
Thomas Kirkpatrick was born on 30th May 1882 in Errigal, County Tyrone. He was the eldest of four sons, all born in the Ballygawley area.
Known family: Francis Kirkpatrick, Isabella Kirkpatrick, Thomas Kirkpatrick (born 30th May 1882), Francis Kirkpatrick (born 24th March 1884), Robert Kirkpatrick (born 2nd May 1886), Andrew Kirkpatrick (born 21st February 1888).
There was a Francis Kirkpatrick who died in the Ballygawley area on 14th November 1889, aged 44. This is presumed to be his father. Thomas would have been just seven years old.
Thomas was living in Augher when he went to Omagh to enlist. Because he became a Company Sergeant Major, it may be assumed that he had a long service in the army.
The 1901 census does not list Thomas as living with the family at house 2 in Lisnawery, Favor Royal, Tyrone. His mother was a widow. They were a farming family.
The 1911 census does not list Thomas as living with the family at house 4 in Lisnawery, Favor Royal.
Thomas was living in Augher when he went to Omagh to enlist.
Company Sergeant Major Thomas Kirkpatrick arrived in France on 5th October 1915.
Company Sergeant Major Thomas Kirkpatrick is buried in Authuile Military Cemetery at the Somme in France.
In his will, Thomas left all to his brothers Francis and Robert.
Last Will and Testament of Thomas Kirkpatrick:
'In the event of my death, I give the whole of my property to my brother's Francis G Kirkpatrick of Lisnameary, Augher and Robert John Kirkpatrick of Sydney Australia in equal shares.'
