08/11/2021 The CWGC record Private Peter Rafferty as the son of Thomas and Ellen Rafferty (formerly McCann) of Barrack Row, Coalisland, County Tyrone
08/11/2021 Private Peter Rafferty is commemorated locally on Dungannon War Memorial.
08/11/2021 The 1911 census reveals that Peter and the family have moved to Coalisland Town. Peter was 16 years old, has left school and was working as a labourer in a brick yard.
08/11/2021 Known family: Thomas Rafferty, Ellen Rafferty, Mary Rafferty (born 19th October 1889), Patrick Rafferty (born 16th March 1891, died 17th March 1891), John Rafferty (born 16th April 1892), Peter Rafferty (born 14th June 1894), Margaret Rafferty (born 4th January 1896), Elizabeth Rafferty (born 15th February 1898, died 3rd March 1909, age 11), Thomas Rafferty (born 15th December 1901).

30/12/2015 Unlike many who died at the Somme, Private Rafferty has a grave and is buried at Y Ravine Cemetery in Beaumont-Hamel.
30/12/2015 Private Peter Rafferty was killed in action on the first day of the Battle of the Somme on 1st July 1916. He was 22 years old.
30/12/2015 Peter Rafferty enlisted in Dungannon with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.
