30/12/2015 Most of the information here was derived from the book, 'Fermanagh War Memorial Book of Honour 1914 – 1921'. Page 265 is devoted to Private George Hoye. Information also came from the book 'Fivemiletown's Fallen', page 28.
30/12/2015 Private Hoye is also commemorated on the memorial in Fivemiletown Methodist Church and the memorial in St Margaret's Parish Church, Clabby, near Fivemiletown. (as Private Hoy)
30/12/2015 Private Hoye is buried in Connaught Cemetery near Thiepval.
30/12/2015 Private George Hoy was serving with the 11th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action on the first day of the battle of the Somme on 1st July 1916. He was 23 years old.
