19/12/2016 From the Belfast Newsletter dated 14th July 1916:
30/12/2015 Private Robert Coulter went to France on 25th November 1915.
30/12/2015 Private Robert Coulter has no known grave and is commemorated on Thiepval Memorial.
30/12/2015 Private Robert Coulter was serving with the 9th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action on the 1st July 1916, the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
30/12/2015 Robert enlisted in the 9th Inniskillings in 1914 at Finner Camp.
30/12/2015 Robert Coulter was living and working in Ballymena for a time before enlisting.
30/12/2015 Family: James Coulter, Maggie Coulter, Annie Coulter (born 1st November 1893), Robert Coulter (born 17th December 1895), Thomas Coulter (born about 1898), James Coulter (born 31st July 1902), Margaret Coulter (born 19th June 1907).

30/12/2015 The 1901 census lists Robert as age 5 living with the family at house 6 in Killarbran, Corrylongford, County Fermanagh. James Coulter was a farm labourer.
30/12/2015 Robert Coulter was the son of James and Maggie Coulter (nee Bryans). Robert was born in Aughlurch on the 17th December 1895.
30/12/2015 Most of the information here was derived from the book, 'Fermanagh War Memorial Book of Honour 1914 – 1921'. Page 219 is devoted to Private Robert Coulter. There are a few inconsistencies and will be corrected in due course.
