Summary      
James Bradley was the son of John and Teresa Bradley. He was born on 3rd June 1899 in Brackaville, Coalisland. He was one of three children. John Bradley was a flax dresser. The family moved to England. By 1912 they were living at 1 Mill Street, Cleator. James enlisted in the 4th Manchester Regiment in July 1917. He later transferred to the 19th Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers. Private James Bradley was serving with the the 19th Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers when he was killed from shrapnel from a German shell while working in a trench on 11th April 1918.

James Bradley was the son of John and Teresa Bradley. John Bradley and Teresa McGrath were married on 22nd February 1897 in the district of Dungannon.
James Bradley was born on 3rd June 1899 in Brackaville, Coalisland. He was one of three children.
Known family: John Bradley, Teresa Bradley, Thomas Francis Bradley (born 14th April 1898), James Bradley (born 5th June 1899), Mary Bradley (born 22nd April 1902).
The 1901 census lists James as age 1, living with the family at house 7 in Brackaville, Tullyniskane, Coalisland, County Tyrone. John Bradley was a flax dresser.
The family moved to England.
By 1912 they were living at 1 Mill Street, Cleator.
James was educated at Cleator Moor St Patrick's Elementary, then the Grammar School from 11th September 1912 to 29th June 1917 (by scholarship). Towards the end of his school career he had been training as a Pupil Teacher.
James enlisted in the 4th Manchester Regiment in July 1917. He later transferred to the 19th Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers.

Private James Bradley proceeded to France in April 1918.
Private James Bradley was serving with the the 19th Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers when he was killed from shrapnel from a German shell while working in a trench on 11th April 1918.
A mate of James’, Private Thomas McCrickett, wrote to Mr Sloan (see below) to tell him the circumstances of the death. Thomas McCrickett died just a few weeks later, on 25th May 1918, also aged 18.
Private James Bradley is buried in Hedauville Communal Cemetery Extension in France, five kilometres north west of Albert.
Private James Bradley is listed on the War Memorial in Cleator St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.
