Joseph Donnelly was the second son of Bernard and Brigid Donnelly. He was born on 11th May 1893. He was the second of at least seven children, five surviving. The family lived at Annagher, Coalisland. His father was a hackler. Joseph was a general labourer. Private Joseph Donnelly arrived in France with the Royal Dublin Fusiliers on 2nd May 1915. Private Joseph Donnelly was serving with the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers when he was killed in action in France and Flanders on 24th May 1915.

Joseph Donnelly was the second son of Bernard and Brigid Donnelly. Bernard Donnelly and Brigid Donnelly were married on 8th February 1891 in the district of Dungannon.
Joseph was born on 11th May 1893. He was the second of at least seven children, five surviving. All five were born in the Dungannon area.
The 1901 census lists Joseph as age 8, living with the family at house 67 in Annagher, Coalisland. His father was a hackler.
Known family: Bernard Donnelly, Bridget Donnelly, Patrick Donnelly (born 26th November 1891), Joseph Donnelly (born 11th May 1893), Mary Donnelly (born 7th June 1896), Felix Donnelly (born 12th October 1898), Bridget Donnelly (born 3rd March 1904).
The 1911 census lists Joseph as age 18 living with the family at house 41 in Annagher, Meenagh, Tyrone. Joseph was a general labourer.
Joseph Donnelly enlisted in Dungannon.
