James Crooks was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Crooks. James was born about 1892. He was the husband of Hannah Crooks. Sergeant James Crooks was serving with the Pioneer Corps when he died 2nd December 1940, aged 48. He is buried in Allenvale Cemetery in Aberdeen. Sergeant James Crooks is commemorated on Newmills Parish Church of Ireland World War Two Memorial Plaque.
