Summary      
John Toner was the eldest son of William and Sarah Toner. He was born on 10th December 1875. He was one of ten children, seven surviving, all born in the Dungannon town area. John worked at the local mill in Dungannon most of his life. Private John Toner was serving with the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers when he was killed in action in Belgium on 24th May 1915.

Summary      
Ypres (now Ieper) is a town in the Province of West Flanders. The Memorial is situated at the eastern side of the town on the road to Menin (Menen) and Courtrai (Kortrijk). Each night at 8 pm the traffic is stopped at the Menin Gate while members of the local Fire Brigade sound the Last Post in the roadway under the Memorial's arches.
