Edward Haliday Exshaw was the son of Thomas and Mary Exshaw. Edward was born on 7th January 1895 in Dungannon, County Tyrone. The 1901 census records the family living at Park Road, Dungannon, Tyrone. Edward H Exshaw emigrated to Canada where he worked as a banker for from the Canadian Bank Of Commerce (CIBC). Edward enlisted on 3rd December 1914 in Victoria, British Columbia. Private Edward H Exshaw was serving with the 15th battalion of the Canadian Infantry when he died of wounds on 16th August 1917 in France. Private Exshaw was 22 years old.
Noeux-les-Mines is a town 6 kilometres south of Bethune on the main road to Arras. The Communal Cemetery is on the northern side of the town, on the south-east side of the road to Labourse.
