| Robert Thomas Gallery was the second son of Thomas and Caroline Gallery. Thomas Gallery and Caroline Thornbury were married on 14th August 1889 in the district of Dungannon.

| Mr Thomas Gallery, Castlecaulfield (County Tyrone) received intimation on Saturday that his son, Corporal Richard Gallery, 9th Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, has been wounded in action in France. Corporal Gallery had been a mechanic in Messrs. Stevenson’s factory at Moygashel, Dungannon, before enlisting, and had volunteered with a large contingent of U.V.F. men shortly after the outbreak of hostilities.

| Lance Corporals Richard and Robert Gallery, 9th Inniskilling Fusiliers, whose photos are given this week, are sons of Thomas Gallery, Castlecaulfield. Both volunteered at the outbreak of hostilities and accompanied the Ulster Division to France in October last. Corporal Robert Gallery, the younger of the two, was invalided home some time ago owing to illness and is at present at Finner Camp recuperating, while the other son is still in France. Richard was a mechanic in Messrs Stevenson's factory in Moygashel and Robert was employed at Messrs Acheson and Smith's factory in Castlecaulfield.

| Sergeant Richard Gallery, 9th Inniskillings, severely wounded, is a son of Mr Thomas Gallery, Castlecaulfield, and before enlisting was a mechanic in Messrs. Stevenson's factory at Moygashel. His brother, Corporal Robert Gallery, is in hospital suffering from shell-shock.

| Two sons of Mr Thomas Gallery, Castlecaulfield, have been wounded. They are Sergeant Richard Gallery and Corporal Robert Gallery. Both are in the 9th Inniskillings. Sergeant Richard Gallery's arm is broken.

| Corporal Robert Gallery was serving with 'D' Company of the 9th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action in France and Flanders on 5th December 1916, age 24.

| Corporal Gallery was killed instantly by a trench mortar. He was just leaving to go to a new line when the incident occurred. Two other men were killed along with Robert in the same incident. They were Private William Ferguson (No. 17847) from Whitehouse in County Antrim and Robert Hogshaw from Cookstown.

| Intimation has been received of the death in action in France on 6th December of Corporal Robert Gallery, Inniskilling Fusiliers. He was one of the two soldier sons of Mr Thomas Gallery, Castlecaulfield, and volunteered on the outbreak of hostilities. His brother Richard has got six months leave to recuperate from serous wounds received in action.

| Robert’s brother, Richard Gallery, who was also a Corporal in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, survived the war.

| Corporal Robert Gallery is buried in Pond Farm Cemetery, Belgium. His grave inscription reads: FOR EVER WITH THE LORD.
