21/07/2021 Thomas Kirkpatrick was born on 30th May 1882 in Errigal, County Tyrone. He was the eldest of four sons, all born in the Ballygawley area.
21/07/2021 Thomas Kirkpatrick was the son of Francis and Isabella Kirkpatrick. Francis Kirkpatrick and Isabella Clements were married on 21st August 1879 in the district of Omagh.

21/07/2021 There was a Francis Kirkpatrick who died in the Ballygawley area on 14th November 1889, aged 44. This is presumed to be his father. Thomas would have been just seven years old.
21/07/2021 Thomas was living in Augher when he went to Omagh to enlist. Because he became a Company Sergeant Major, it may be assumed that he had a long service in the army.

21/07/2021 Company Sergeant Major Thomas Kirkpatrick arrived in France on 5th October 1915.
