30/12/2015 Lance Corporal Jack Fitzsimons, Royal Irish Rifles, who died recently in hospital at Huddersfield, from wounds received at the front, was a native of Dungannon. His father, the late Mr Joseph Fitzsimons, resided in Perry Street, Dungannon, and was a well-known car owner. The deceased soldier, prior to volunteering, resided at 10 Botanic Avenue, Belfast, and was a member of the Ulster Volunteer Force.

30/12/2015 John Fitzsimmons was the son of Joseph and Matilda Fitzsimmons (nee Moore). John was born in Dungannon on 30th March 1868.
30/12/2015 The 1901 census lists John as age 30 living with the family at house 10 in Botanic Avenue, Belfast. His parents are retired grocers. John worked as a mechanic in a foundry. His sister Matilda was a milliner.
30/12/2015 The 1911 census lists John as age 43 living with the family at house 10 in Botanic Avenue, Cromac, Antrim. By this time his father had died. John now worked as a 'Commercial Traveller Engineering'
