30/12/2015 Company Sergeant Major William Motum has no known grave and is commemorated on Le Touret Memorial near Bethune in France.
30/12/2015 The CWGC record Company Sergeant Major Motum as the husband of Hannah Motum, of Caledon Road., Aughnacloy, Co. Tyrone.
30/12/2015 Company Sergeant Major Motum was serving with 'E' Company of the 1st Battalion of the Royal Irish Rifles when was killed in action on 10th March 1915. He was 31 years old.
30/12/2015 When war broke out, the Battalion was shipped to France. Aden was not an accompanied tour so on return from India the family returned to their home in Aughnacloy.
30/12/2015 William Motum served in India and returned to Aden possibly in the early part of 1914.
30/12/2015 William Motum met his wife Hannah in Dublin. They had four children, three of whom were born in India.
30/12/2015 William George Motum was born in London about 1884.
