William Fleming was the son of Margaret Fleming. James was born about 1894 in Fivemiletown, County Tyrone. William Fleming enlisted in Fivemiletown. He was living in Clogher at the time. Private William Fleming was serving with the 9th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action on Saturday 1st July 1916 on the first day of the Battle of the Somme. He was 22 years old. William’s brother James also died in the war. Private James Fleming was killed in action in France 20 months earlier on Wednesday 16th September 1914.
