Summary      
John Henry Rose was the only known son of John and Margaret Rose. He was born on 17th June 1891. He was the youngest of four children born in Dungannon. It seems that by 1901, the family had left Ireland as no record can be found in the census. John Henry Rose enlisted in Eastbourne. England in 1910. Private John Henry Rose arrived in France with the Rifle Brigade on 23rd August 1914. Lance Corporal John Henry Rose was serving with the 4th Division of the 1st Battalion of Rifle Brigade when he was killed in action in France on Sunday 2nd May 1915.

Summary      
Ypres (now Ieper) is a town in the Province of West Flanders. The Memorial is situated at the eastern side of the town on the road to Menin (Menen) and Courtrai (Kortrijk). Each night at 8 pm the traffic is stopped at the Menin Gate while members of the local Fire Brigade sound the Last Post in the roadway under the Memorial's arches.
